Plumas National Forest continues to draw outdoor enthusiasts seeking extraordinary paddling, fishing, camping and hiking experiences.There are several campgrounds around Butt Valley Reservoir including Ponderosa Flat, Ponderosa Flat Group, and Cool Springs Campground. Some of the campgrounds are first-come, first-served only and do not accommodate reservations and some of our campgrounds are open year-round

Two years ago this area was badly burned. Call prior to department to see if the facilities are open. PG&E typically opens the campgrounds around Memorial Weekend and maintains them through October.
