The scenic Trinity Lake offers some of the finest paddling in California. As paddlers glide across the tranquil waters, they are treated to stunning reflections of the surrounding mountains. The lake's 145-mile shoreline is dotted with countless picturesque coves, though water levels can drop significantly by the end of the season due to drawdowns.

Located just 1.5 hours from Redding near the town of Weaverville, this expansive 2,300-foot-elevation lake is the third largest in California. Soaring eagles may swoop down to catch fish right in front of kayakers, as the lake is surrounded by the pristine Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Magnificent cedar and pine forests cover the low mountainsides that descend to the water's edge, with snowcapped peaks framing the breathtaking scene.

Trinity Lake is renowned as one of California's top fishing destinations, offering excellent angling for a variety of species, including catfish, Kokanee salmon, bass, bluegill, and trout. It's particularly known for its exceptional springtime smallmouth bass fishing.

Overall, Trinity Lake is undoubtedly one of the state's finest paddling and boat-in camping destinations, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the majestic Trinity Alps wilderness.
